Fight Back Texas Tours stops at Whole Woman's Health
February 11, 2016
Whole Woman's Health received a lot of support from community members, other clinics, and local media, for the "Fight Back Texas Truth Tours". On February 9th, they welcomed community members to come and tour their facility, a restructured clinic as a result of the building and medical requirements laid out in the Texas HB2 bill that signed into law by Governor Rick Perry in 2013.
Whole Woman's Health is just one of many small abortion providers that were affected drastically by Texas' HB2 bill. The bill places restrictions on clinics that provide abortions to limit access to women seeking them. On March 2nd, the Supreme Court case, Whole Woman's Health vs Hellerstedt, is taking place to determine whether or not Texas HB2 places an undue burden on women exercising their legal right to a safe abortion.
Medical professionals who have inspected HB2 greatly oppose the "unnecessary requirements" placed on clinics who provide abortions.
The "Fight Back Texas Truth Tours" seeks to encourage women to tell their abortion stories leading up to the Whole Woman's Health vs. Hellerstedt Supreme Court case that will put HB2 restrictions to the test.
Below are some of the moments during the "Fight Back Texas Tours" press rally at Whole Woman's Health.
